NLE Curatorial Lab – Fall 2016 NLE Curatorial Lab (NLE Lab) is open to local, national and international candidates.
No Longer Empty encourages curators and arts professionals actively pursuing a curatorial career, and interested in exploring the expanded field of curating to apply. An interdisciplinary academic background with an emphasis on contemporary art or art history is required, with preference given to candidates with either postgraduate qualifications or prior curatorial experience.
Selected participants are expected to make an enthusiastic commitment to both critical research and exhibition practice and to devote 20 hours a week to the program. Recognizing that participants may have full or part-time obligations, a flexible program schedule will be determined with the facilitating curator and participants at the beginning of the session.
English language skills are required for enrollment in the program.
A program fee of $1,200 is due upon acceptance. No Longer Empty offers a payment plan.
Participants not based in NYC are responsible for travel and accommodation expenses. Fall 2016 Session: September 6 – December 18, 2016/

How to apply: A complete application consists of: 1) A $25 application fee payable via No Longer Empty’s PayPal account here. 2) A cover letter stating your interest in NLE Curatorial Lab. Please touch upon your experience, notions of site-specificity, community engagement, social justice, and how these may relate to your interests and goals. 3) A Curriculum Vitae (CV) including education, professional, and/or arts-related experience and the names and contact information of two professional references. Prospective students may submit equivalent professional experience commensurate with academic work and/or a history of independent curatorial projects. 4) A three-page writing sample in the form of an exhibition proposal or critical review. The review may be of an exhibition, exhibition-related program, or series of events. 5) At least five images (at 72 dpi) of past projects, or links to past projects.
