At the Friday Gallery we have artwork by Andreas Hirsch on display until Art in the Park begins. At the party on Friday, I met Markus Maria Wendland, a Munich photographer who photographed Andreas Hirsch and also Patrick McCranc, the musician I photographed and shared on our Facebook page. Markus Maria Wendland creates studio portraits of artists which is very different than the portrait style of Tobias Tschepe.
Creating a portrait that represents the artists internal spirit is a challenge that several other Munich photographers have also grappled with in their art practice.
Munich Artist Tobias Tschepe captures artists at work in their studios. Here are a few examples of his work.
Emmy Horstkamp also takes photographs and Video of artists and their studios.
On Friday at the Munich Artists Stammtisch at Frauenstrasse 18, we will be talking about the artists portrait series and how we should be curating this work. If you are a photographer and would like to be involved in documenting Munich Artists, please let me know so I can add you to the list of photographers. One Munich artist, Hubert Juranek will be photographing artists and their studios using analog photography and B&W. It would be great to make a series of maybe 7 books done in different photographic styles highlighting different Munich Artists, their studios and the photographers in our city.
